Westside is an eight-episode series that follows nine aspiring artists pursuing music stardom.

Instead of an American Idol-esque competition show, the series will take a more docu-series approach, interlaced with music videos and original songs that underscore its themes and story arcs. Another unique distinction for the show is that it shifts away from Idol-style rags-to-riches success narratives in favor of a cinema-verite approach that highlights the struggle that comes with the pursuit of stardom.

The show will feature original music written by the likes of Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd, Shane McAnally, Ryan Tedder, Johan Carlsson, Busbee, Ross Golan, Diane Warren, Philip Lawrence, and Pat Monahan. The soundtrack will be released by Warner Bros. Records, and two tracks are already available: ‘We Are The Ones’ and ‘Vibe’.

Label co-Chairman and COO Tom Corson commented on the new series:

“’Westside’ struck me immediately as a quantum leap forward in the synergy of contemporary music with the raw vibe of today’s unscripted series innovations. Musical diversity as a powerful social force is the cornerstone of Westside, and nowhere is that relationship better understood than at Warner Bros. Records.”
