Hip Hop Car Show and concert comes to Ford Field Saturday

If there are two things that Detroiters know about, it’s music and cars. The 4th Annual Hip Hop Car Show and Concert will take place this Saturday at Ford Field with radio stations Channel 95.5 and FM 98 WJLB hosting the event. “It epitomizes the culture of JLB and 95.5,”said Scott Frost, Director of Special Events and Integrated Marketing for Clear Channel Detroit. “It’s a great combo of two passions of our listeners, cars and music.”

The show starts at 3 p.m. and has over 125 customized vehicles, however, the cars are not just for show. Detroiters are registering their cars in hopes of winning a $1,200 grand prize. Some people want more than the money. “I really want people to see my car,”said Marvin Essix of Inskter who is entering his custom 2006 Chevy SSR. “I put a lot of effort into it…it took 3 1/2 months to do everything. I haven’t seen anything like it; it’s unique.”
