Cash Money Content/Atria Books author Wahida Clark’s latest novel Justify My Thug, the 5th novel from her dramatic and erotic series, made its debut on the New York Times Trade Fiction Paperback Best Seller List at #19 this week! This is the author’s 2nd appearance on the list. Clark has written 10 novels to date, including the 5 installments of her “Thug Series.”
“10 years and 10 novels later, my humble beginnings and ability to stick to it have resulted in my present success, proving that anyone can achieve their dreams if you stay focused and stick to it,” said Clark of her New York Times debut. “However, I MUST thank my readers for supporting me book after book, year after year. I write for them and it has paid off. Plus, I teamed up with Cash Money Content to make history and to open doors for the genre.”
Clark joined forces with Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams of the iconic chart-topping rap label, Cash Money Records for the release of “Justify” through their newly formed Cash Money Content book imprint, distributed by Atria Books/Simon & Schuster. A savvy business woman, Clark saw the venture as a way to gain greater visibility in the hip hop marketplace. That thinking has more than paid off.
“We are proud and excited about Wahida Clark’s New York Times debut,” said Ronald “Slim” Williams of Cash Money Records and Cash Money Content. “We were expecting only big things from her. The Cash Money collaboration with “The Queen” is a match that can do nothing but succeed.”
“I am thrilled to see Wahida debut so high and know what an accomplishment it is,” said Marc Gerald, of The Agency Group, Clark ‘s long-time agent. “Paperback originals almost never debut that strong ““ especially by urban authors. But it is extra special knowing the lengths Wahida has gone to be this successful.”
“Justify My Thug” continues the saga of four girlfriends addicted to a life of danger, crime and money while also suffering the consequences that come along with falling in love with a notorious Thug. Written to entertain its readers as well as to serve as cautionary tales, Clark has sold more than 400,000 copies of the first 4 installments of the series.
When asked about the title, “Justify My Thug,” Clark explains, “My characters deal with real life situations and must justify their actions. All of their actions have consequences; some good, some bad. They must justify their “˜hustle,’ or justify their “˜thug.'”
