This Highway Patrol Officer actually tried to run over a suspect with his car carrening through an urban appartment complex where he could have easily killed innocent bystand ers including children. (Did he even have jurisdiction to do this off the highway?) He was merely suspeded for a few days and given a stress management class. Nevertheless the Governor Mark Sanford accepted the resignations of both the public safety director James Schweitzer and the Highway Patrol command er Russell Roark after viewing this tape and others that implicate racism and a wild west mentality with many of the officers. Citizens of SC are asking that charges be filed against the officer. He must have forgotten his dash cam was on. Had the suspect not held on to the bar, he would have been run over.
