Cathy Hughes – Radio One (Founder CEO)
Cathy Hughes is the most successful woman in radio today. She has provided employment opportunity for hundreds and a forum for entertainment and information for millions of black people. She’s an icon, an inspiration, and a treasure for our people. She deserves recognition.

Oprah Whifrey – HARPO and OWN
Oprah is one of the brightest stars in the world. I would have voted for her first, but she hasn’t put black people first.

Gwen Ifel – PBS
She hosts one of the most intelligent shows on Sunday morning, and she moderates Presidential election debates. She is a no-nonsense personality, and heaven knows, we need more like her; we have enough mental poison peddlers out there.

Jamillah Muhammad – Radio One/Program Director
Ms. Muhammad has always been professional in her demeanor and a valuable mentor and philanthropist in her personal life.   She has already made an impact in the DMV in her programming for Radio One.   Her longevity in the industry for such a young woman speaks to her value, professionalism and capabilities in this industry.   I believe she is a natural for this honor.

Kandi Burris – Kandi Koated Ent
We often wonder what happens to artist after their group broke up or what’s next.   Kandi is an artist, entrepreneur, reality show star and who has remained relevant through the years.   She was the first African American Female to win the ASCAP’s songwriter of the year, she’s won Grammy’s for hits that she has written for Destiny’s Child and TLC to name a few, she owns a successful clothing boutique, has a weekly webcast and many other accomplishments.   As she says on the Real Housewives of Atlanta “She earned it”!

Kris Kelly – WGCI-FM APD.
Hard working and deserving of this honor.

Karen Vaughn – APD WZAK/WJMO Cleveland
Karen is a forward-thinking programmer and a personality who’s in a constant state of reinvention.   She knew the power of the internet and harnessed it by fully integrating it into her radio programs years before it became commonplace.

Thea Mitchem – OM/Clear Channel Radio-Washington
Making history in DC as the OM/PD of general market radio stations.

KJ Brooks – Jacksonville PD/MD WSOL

KJ is a really hard worker a does her best everyday to make sure V-101.5 is always on point!

Kelder Summers – Citadel Broadcasting/KMEZ/ Assistant PD Morning Co-Host/News Director
Kelder is an immensely talented pro that has worked in the New Orleans market for over 15 years and continues to grow! In addition to the many titles she already holds, she’s recently added web and online to her resume.

Susan Davenport Austin – Sheridan Broadcasting
Excellent candidate for this contest.
