The Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) held its 2008 Abe Olman Scholarships for Excellence in Songwriting awards ceremony at the historic Bitter End in New York City last night. The Abe Olman Scholarships were given to five promising young songwriters- Shelly Bhushan (SHOF), Reeve Carney (ASCAP), Watt White (BMI), Linda Kiraly (SESAC) and Galia Arad (SGA)- who were chosen because they have risen to an exemplary stand ard of songwriting. The audience was treated to performances by the scholarship winners as well as the best of the songwriters who were showcased by SHOF in the previous year and are featured on SHOF’s annual CD compilation: The Best of the Songwriters Hall of Fame New Writers Showcase: Volume 6.
