I just wanted to say that I was a bit disturbed at the fact that you guys failed to mention WJLB-FM/Detroit in your recent article that covered the ratings in metro Detroit. Occasionally, in fact on a regular basis, we (WJLB) are excluded for some reason in reports on ratings by the local media, and I have become desensitized to it, however, when I see an urban industry trade publication over look us... then alarms go off. My only guess is that you received the source from the local newspaper (Detroit Free Press). Some of my talent was annoyed by the failure to mention, the continued success of this radio station, and I had to tell them, for some damn reason, the media here isn't too concerned with our achievements. I do not need to beat my chest and scream that we are indeed the #1 18-34 radio station and normally hold that position with a few instances where we landed at #2...Consistently holding #1 and in some cases #2 for the past 10 years in a row. I am most proud of the commitment we have with our community. I just wanted people to know the facts.

WJLB's morning show ("Coco, Foolish, & Mr.... Chase-odd enough Mr.... Chase was excluded from the local paper) was TIED at #3 with our sister station for adults 25-54 and jumped from 5th place to tie at 3rd (4.6-5.6), and Mojo jumped from 6th place to tie with us. in the Winter 2008 survey. The cool thing is that it's all in the Clear Channel family, so we all share in the success of our stations, It's just a bit annoying when the station that has been leading the charge for years and years is constantly ignored.
WJLB is top 4 in all demo's and #1 in most. There are the facts. Most of the media will shy away from an urban mainstream station, and my guess would because of some of the hip hop content, however, we have a perfect balance. Just wanted you guys to know so that you are aware that incomplete and inaccurate info is being distributed.
Now on to station business. We have a big event coming up "The What's next on Da Menu" concert. May 8th at St. Andrews Hall. 13 of the hottest local artists will perform. This concert is spun out of our weekly show on Saturday nights "What's on Da Menu", where we feature an hour of local music. We will have 2 national artists performing at that event as well. Fat Joe and Dolla. During that day and leading up to that event we are having the "WJLB CD Critique" session". A few aspiring artists will have the opportunity to have there "ONE" track heard by some of the industry's top A&R exec's. The Free Press did do some justice on one of our announcers yesterday. Sunshyne, our sexy Quiet Storm host (10p-2a) was featured in an article. She has a very interesting story. She is from Bosnia, and she discusses in the article about the courageous escape from Bosnian War to the US when she was a child and with her family.

Sorry for the oversight, As a black blog that has also been ignored on occasion for less desirable online sites and trades with lower ratings, I know how you and your staff feel. As a race, we are often accustomed to being ignored by certain people but when it's your OWN people it is a harder slap in the face. It wasn't personal and yes the Detroit Free Press was the source. In addition, and this is a general statement, urban stations don't send station info out to urban outlets as often as they should either, it also annoys me when I see for example, L.A. Reid address something that I write about on a Monday in Radio Facts on Friday to Radio and Records. I have never played politics or kissed ass and I call things as I see them. I will take the fall on this one. Please make sure we are in the loop for all your future events, news and projects and I have no problem posting.
