On the heels of “Wale: I am From” and “The Year of Pharrell,” REVOLT is proud to present the documentary “Brooklyn Boheme” in honor of Black History Month. “Brooklyn Boheme” provides an intimate portrait of the black arts movement that exploded in Fort Greene, Brooklyn from the mid-1980s through the 1990s as told by acclaimed writer, producer, historian and Brooklyn resident Nelson George and co-director Diane Paragas.

REVOLT is proud to honor our first Black History Month on the air with the premiere of ‘Brooklyn Boheme’,” said Val Boreland, executive vice president of programming and production. “The film is a brilliant portrayal of the contributions African-Americans have made to American art – including music, design, filmmaking, writing, photography and spoken word artistry.”

Originally aired on Showtime, “Brooklyn Boheme” features appearances from iconic artists Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Rosie Perez, Branford Marsalis and poet Saul Williams. REVOLT will televise the seventy-five minute documentary on February 9th at 8 p.m. EST with encore airings available throughout the month.

“We are thrilled that our film ‘Brooklyn Boheme’ will be making our REVOLT premiere for Black History Month, stated Diane Paragas. “We hope this film will reach a whole new audience and inspire the next generation of Bohemes,” said Nelson George.
