FYI: Baisden’s radio career began in 2003 when 98.7 KISS FM in New York City offered him a position as the afternoon drive-time host. Because of budget constraints the station was unable to offer him a salary. Michael’s response was, “Just give me the damned mic!” And sure enough, within six months, their afternoon drive ratings went from number 9 to number 1.
Best-selling author and the top-rated “Bad Boy of Radio,” Michael Baisden returns to TV One this summer with a new season of hot topics, dynamic entertainment and compelling guests on his talk/variety series, Baisden After Dark, which premieres Saturday, June 21 from 11 PM – midnight ET. Episodes will also repeat The episodes will re-air each week that night at 2 AM, Thursdays at 10 PM and Fridays at 1 AM (all times ET).
Baisden is a best-selling author, motivational speaker and host of his own nationally-syndicated radio program, “Love, Lust and Lies,” which airs on the ABC Radio Network. Targeted to a “grown and sexy” audience, Baisden After Dark explores a wide range of provocative topics with an eclectic mix of celebrity and special guests from the worlds of entertainment, politics, sports and music. Baisden opens each show with a monologue, followed by a celebrity roundtable discussion of one hot topic, ranging from the bold and sexy, to the sublimely serious.
Among the subjects Baisden will tackle this season include the imprisonment of black men, the price of success in Hollywood, and all aspects of men/women relationships. The host plans to keep it lively and engaging by bringing the studio audience into the discussion.
Additional features include a musical and /or comedy guest performance, from guests such as Angie Stone, Broadway star Elizabeth Withers from “The Color Purple” and R&B legend Peabo Bryson, as well as input from Baisden’s “Man on the Street,” comedian George Wilborn, his radio co-hort and grand -prize winner of TV One’s “Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes?” comedy competition. The show also boasts a stellar R&B band , with the legendary funkmaster Morris Day (“Jungle Love”) serving as band leader and sidekick.
In the premiere episode June 21, Michael Baisden discusses the notion, “Why Did I Get Married?” with Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, Tamia, music producer and reality show star, Irv Gotti (Gotti’s Way), and spiritual life counselor/inspirational author, Iyanla Vanzant. Special musical guests are R&B icons Midnight Star, and comedian Joe Clair performs. Baisden After Dark is a FarCor Studios Production.
