Radio One Philly Music Conference adds Knowles

I really enjoy reporting news where black radio people are proactive, innovative and creative instead of wimpy, lazy and scared. I cannot stress enough how important it is to aim high, even if you miss it’s better than aiming low and achieving.

I give a lot of credit and have a lot of respect for Elroy Smith for his creativity. Philly as we all know has been a dead market for DECADES with an dreaded economy and lackluster appeal to the rest of the nation. Elroy apparently sees potential in the market and he has come up with a great concept to bring notoriety not only to the city but to the constipated music industry too. Kudos Elroy. I personally have not been invited but I’d love to check it out. The event takes place on Sunday, March 16 and will feature five workshops: R&B; listen and critique; hip-hop; inspiration; and the Mary J. Blige workshop, which she will host. I like Mary J…. Panelists include Beanie Siegel, Fat Joe, Rick Ross and Lupe Fiasco for the hip-hop workshop; Kirk Franklin, Donald Lawrence and Tye Tribbett for the Inspiration workshop; producers Michael Bivins, Dre & Vidal and Carvin & Ivan for the listen and critique session; and Trey Songz, Mario and Kindred the Family Soul.
