width=Today at 5:00pm, Radio One launched Old School 105.3 (WNOW-FM). This format is rooted in the foundation that made Old School music great! Old School 105.3 will play the best Old School music from the 70’s and 80’s with artists like: Luther Vandross, The Isley Brothers, Michael Jackson, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Earth, Wind and Fire, Anita Baker and many more Old School favorites.

According to Jay Stevens, Senior Vice President of Programming for Radio One, Inc., “Adult listeners in Charlotte will now have a station that plays the music they know and love and can sing every word to, 24/7. Old School 105.3 is all about the memories and the emotions of these great old school songs.”

Old School 105.3 will resemble Radio One’s KSOC-FM in Dallas, Texas which introduced an Old School format last summer. KSOC-FM improved its rank in Adults 25-54 from #23 to #13 within six months of the format’s debut in that highly competitive top five radio market (Arbitron PPM, Mon-Sun 6a-mid average persons, Oct/Nov/Dec 2011).

Gary Weiss, Regional Vice President, Radio One (Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Richmond) added, “The Dallas ratings confirm Old School 105.3’s potential. Charlotte has a healthy appetite for Old School music, and we’ve fine-tuned the mix for local tastes. This station is poised to explode!”

You can “experience” Old School 105.3, by tuning your FM dial to 105.3 or going on line to www.oldschool1053.com.

Radio One will continue to operate 92.7 WQNC and Praise 100.9.
