Prince Against Gays/Milk against Cereal???

Prince of 2008 is interesting. Perhaps Prince is NOT gay and never has been but the comment he made to the New Yorker (below) almost completely goes against his persona, at best, which in the industry for the past 30 years has basically been…. a talented singer/producer/arranger/writer etc in drag. I have never been a big fan but the only difference between Prince and Little Richard during their respective heydays are…well not much at all. Both wore Perms and make-up, but Prince took it a step further and included frilly blouses and high-heeled pump boots (which are said to be the main reason he had to have his hip replaced).

Whoosh…. was that the logic train that just went by? What time is the next one coming so we won’t miss that one too? What in de fook? In both cases, their saving grace was they surrounded themselves with delicious women. But isn’t this just like the drug dealer in the neighborhood who gives out free turkeys at Thanksgiving time or the married politician who’s against indecency but has a bevy of prostitutes on the side? Or is it that we are willing to see ONLY what we want to see as long as we have balance or it benefits us in some way???? (laugh)…

Finally, on a side note, I met one of Little Richards former security guards once who said there was a woman who used to travel with them who could smoke a cigarette with her lips…. um, her OTHER lips and blow smoke rings too! I give up.

“So here’s how it is: you’ve got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to this.” He pointed to a Bible. “But there’s the problem of interpretation, and you’ve got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn’t. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats, and they’re, like, ‘You can do whatever you want.’ Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.”

When asked about his perspective on social issues—gay marriage, abortion—Prince tapped his Bible and said, “God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.’ ”
