Los Angeles – At the heart of OWN is Oprah‘s desire to offer programming that helps viewers awaken to their best selves and discover a deeper connection to the world around them. The cornerstone of this commitment is the Emmy ® Award-winning series “Super Soul Sunday” (Sundays at 11 a.m. ET/PT), which gathers some of today’s most world-renowned thought leaders, spiritual advisors, teachers and authors to discuss life’s biggest questions.
The second season of the popular series premieres on Sunday, November 4 (11 a.m. ““ 12 p.m. ET/PT) when Oprah welcomes Deepak Chopra to Harpo Studios in Chicago to expound on the transformative power of quieting the mind in the episode “Meditation 101.” Chopra says studies have shown that stress is the number one epidemic of our civilization, and explains how mediation can relieve anxiety and re-wire your thought process to awaken new perspectives. On November 11, Eckhart Tolle, considered by many as one of the most spiritually influential people in the world, offers solutions on how to evolve beyond the incessant chatter of the mind, and how to learn to live in the moment.
On November 18, Oprah invites three of today’s brightest up-and-coming thought leaders, who she calls “˜the new generation,’ to discuss how they followed their bliss by starting their own socially conscious businesses. The young leaders include Mastin Kipp, founder of the fastest growing daily positivity blog The Daily Love, Gabrielle Bernstein author of “Spirit Junkie: A Radical Road to Self-Love and Miracles” and Marie Forleo motivational speaker and founder of the Change Your Life, Change Your World initiative ®.
The November 25 episode features American philosopher and one of the elders of the personal growth movement, Jean Houston, whose illustrious career includes advising Hillary Clinton and UNICEF. She joins Oprah to talk about her latest book, “The Wizard of Us: Transformational Lessons from Oz,” which uses the classic tale “The Wizard of Oz” as a guide for living an authentic life filled with heart, brains and courage.
On December 2, Oprah will interview Neurosurgeon Dr. Eben Alexander, who says he spent his career using scientific logic to refute stories of near death experiences– until he experienced his own out-of-body journey to the afterlife, after contracting a rare and life-threatening form of meningitis. Then on December 9, political activist, Holocaust survivor and one of the most cherished moral voices of our time, Elie Wiesel, joins Oprah for a rare one-on-one conversation. Wiesel, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986 and the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal in 1984 for his work in speaking out against racism and oppression, shares his life story chronicled in his new memoir “Open Heart.
