Rick DeesWhen we announced that Rick Dees had been appointed to do the morning show in LA at Hispanic-targeted KHHT, we were, like many others, scratching our heads and we PREDICTED it would be short-lived. iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel) stated listeners were most familiar with Dees which is why they brought him out of retirement to do the show. Here we are a year later and it has been announced that Dees is out. Give us a minute to try to muster up a shocked look. Who in the hell is surprised by this? Why was he ever brought back in the first place? Dees points out his short stint has been very successful (…and Rumpelstiltskin is running for President), local marketing manager Greg Ashlock states: “RICK has been with us for a year and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every moment. He’s a consummate professional and we wish him the best as he pursues some national opportunities. [SVP/Programming] JOHN IVEY will be sharing with you our morning plans for the future later this week.”

When HOT 92.3 stopped playing the Chi-lites and started playing Madonna in the mornings that was sign that things werent going to get any better. Rick Dees was relevant when he was doing morning at KIIS back in the 80’s and early 90’s. The person who thought it was such a great move to bring Rick back on HOT 92.3 should be let go too! Victor Zaragosa was a perfect for mornings in LA, he spoke directly to the target demo and they listened to him, regardless of what # may have said.
