Hip-hop music has been given a new meaning at God Pleasers Fellowship Church in Irving. There is no profanity, no drugs and no talk of gang violence. It’s all about worshipping God. “We took the same beat from hip-hop and turned it into praising God,” added Reggie Johnson, spokesman for the group. “It’s a wonderful thing.” Many churches rejected the idea of preaching God through hip-hop music, but God Pleasers church took a chance and gave the group a shot. “It’s positive hip-hop music,” said James “Poppa” Knight, member of Thee Global Rock Hip Hop Church of Texas, which meets regularly at the God Pleasers church on Belt Line Road. “There’s nothing offensive.”
