Mike Tyson Embarrased by Docu Drama about his Life

“I look at it now and I’m embarrassed I did it,” Tyson told the New York Times. “There’s a lot of information people didn’t need to know. I don’t know who I am. That might sound stupid. I really have no idea. All my life I have been drinking and drugging and partying and all of a sudden this comes to a stop. I never thought I would live to this age.”

Mike Tyson might have contributed 30 hours worth of interviews for a documentary on his life that will premiere in Cannes this week, and he might be flying all the way to France to attend the opening, but he’s not happy about it. He also discusses his turbulent marriage and divorce to Robin Givens, a divorce that basically destroyed her career. Tyson, who has dedicated himself to a life of clean living, will now presumably have the clarity to figure out who exactly he is, at the age of 42. There’s always a ready punchline when writing about Mike Tyson, but knowing what I know about his life, it’s all just pretty sad.
