Matt is being recognized this week by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his incredible rock knowledge and iconic status primarily established as host of MTV programs such as 120 Minutes, MattRock, Pinfield Suite, Pinfield presents, Rocks Off, Say What, MTV Live and hundreds of MTV specials and appearances like TRL’s “Stump Matt” segment which exhibited Matt’s extensive rock knowledge.

Most recently, Matt has been Vice President of A&R and Artist Development for Columbia Records, host of VH1′s VSpot top 20 Countdown, host on HDNet’s Soundoff with Matt Pinfield, host of Myspace’s first long-form live concert Projekt Revolution in 2007, host of the three day South by Southwest festival on Direct TV, cameo guest on shows such as Nickelodeon’s The Naked Brothers Band and rock radio host on Sirius Satellite radio. Since the start of his career Matt has continuously been a defining rock presence on radio airwaves, as exemplified by groundbreaking interviews with legends like The Rolling Stones in 2005 – their first international radio interview in over 35 years featuring all four band members, and U2 during the world radio premier of their latest album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. He helped pioneer and host the show Farmclub.com on USA Networks television which included interviews and performances with artists from Eminem and Dr. Dre to Green Day and U2. Matt has been regularly featured as a rock expert and guest on national media such as CNN, MSNBC, PBS’s Charlie Rose, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Live with Regis and Kelly, Rolling Stone, USA Today, TV Guide, Spin, The New York Times, Post, Daily News and Details Magazine for his various contributions to the music industry.

“Matt is a kindred spirit in the rock world and a perfect match for the culture and authenticity at 101.9 RXP” said Emmis Vice President of Programming Jimmy Steal. “Matt started his career in radio and his rock passion has always embraced all elements of the genre – so this addition is not only a perfect fit for 101.9 RXP, it is also a homecoming for Matt and his core passions.”

Prior to his TV years, Matt began his career in radio as a DJ at the Jersey Shore alternative station WHTG-FM 106.3, where his rock knowledge and passion escalated him to the roles of WHTG Music & Program Director. During his 10 years at WHTG Matt developed close relationships with ground breaking 90′s artists and was the recipient of the National Gavin Award for two years in a row (1992, 1993) for Alternative Music Director of the Year, and was soon thereafter recruited by MTV to become their rock ambassador.

101.9 RXP features a variety of rock from artists like Franz Ferdinand , Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, Coldplay, U2, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, The Police, Beck, Radiohead, The Who, Oasis, Arcade Fire, Social Distortion and REM…a playlist not determined by era, but rather by the acoustic quality of each song, as determined directly by on-air personalities and staff.
