In case you have not heard New Birth Mega Church Bishop Eddie Long, a staunch anti-gay extremist, has been hit with a lawsuit filed by 2 young men for inappropriate contact which includes sexual contact as members of his church. One of the young men allege Long used his “spiritual” relationship with him and took him on trips where they shared a bedroom and engaged in touching, kissing, masturbation and oral sex. Both claim the contact began when they were barely past the legal age in Georgia of 16 years. There are allegedly several other young men who are also waiting to come forward.
This past June it was reported that someone broke into Bishop Eddie Long’s mega church facilities in Lithonia, GA, several miles outside Atlanta, and stole an iPhone an iPad and some jewelry while Long was out of town. Isn’t that like breaking into a bank and stealing promotional brochures? It was also reported that a church master key was missing before that along with 2 of Eddie’s wigs (OK I added the wigs part for humor). If you owned a mega church how many people would have access to a master key… BESIDES YOU or someone you were (I will leave that alone)! Since the Bishop’s iPhone and iPad were stolen it would appear the perps were not after monetary valuables as much as the were trying to obtain some kind of evidence. Turns out at least one of the thieves ended up being one of the men who filed the lawsuit.
Rest assured, Long will use his deep pockets and his 25,000 parishioner’s hard earned money to get this sh… out of the press with lightening speed. Those boys will be paid hand somely to shut the fook up as well. While Long claims he has not been served, the case has been filed. You can read the actual court docs yourself here
Skip Cheatham and K104
As the industry is damn near NIL on any news as of late, Skip Cheatham getting fired from K104 in Dallas was one of the most read stories in the blog all year but oddly, nobody made any comments (on the blog but to me they did which I will not repeat).
Urban Insite is reporting that a DJ from Birmingham named Bucke Wilde is headed to Dallas to do the morning show without his crew. I have never heard of him but I do know that Dede McGuire and Lady Jade will remain on the air at K104. It’s a gamble to get a new host and start the relationship on the air, I would think. I would have at least have brought 1 or 2 of my crew along but perhaps he didn’t have much choice. I know when they told him what he would be paid he probably got on the freeway and started jogging to Dallas in his draws (lol). I’m not sure if this is confirmed yet and I have not heard anything about it but I will keep you posted. I thought it was very odd that most people were very neutral about Skip’s exit… it was like.. NEXT! I didn’t get that part but then again, I have not talked to Skip in years even though we started in radio around the same time. It is rumored that he was allegedly making a whopping $800,000 a year. I don’t know of ANY black man in radio (well besides the syndication people) making that kind of money. In addition, it’s most unfortunate the urban talent pool is dry since Joyner and Harvey’s old asses dominate the morning slots at most urban stations and new talent is not being bred. In all honesty, I am surprised there are ANY local people still doing morning radio in urban.
The late Nate Quick, who was a great friend, told me that station (K104) needs to be remodeled badly but the checks make you forget all of that (laugh). It’s hard to believe he’s been gone for over a year now. Nate was one of the great ones.
LA Reid Out? Who Cares?
A lot of the commercial blogs including 50 Cent’s blog reported LA Reid is out at Def Jam. I called my contacts at Def Jam and could not get a confirmation. Everyone is under the radar and doesn’t want to say sh…. Def Jam is not a label we report on a lot as they don’t support us so it’s not something I’m going to explore but if the news comes my way I will let you know.
