Look for a change to come soon as Steve Harvey is about to lose another station. I won’t go into details but will be writing about it very soon. The deal is set to bring in another syndicated show immediately.
Let’s face it, DL Hughley didn’t really have a chance. Taping a morning show in New York from LA and not having a radio team was only a part of the problem. His deal with Urban Radio fell through while he was on the air at WRKS in New York. The show lacked direction and my sources informed me that DL was making next to nothing ($35,000) doing the show per his own negotiation with Emmis after Urban Radio blew the original deal. DL wanted to have a syndicated show but after a failed CNN show and now a failed morning show in the #1 market, his chances are looking slim. It’s ironic, these celebrities need real radio people to help them out and radio people are the ones that should be doing the actual show. Kinda hard to feel sorry for these comics infiltrating our arena.
Doug Banks got out of Urban Radio just in time and we hear AURN is really excited about having The Doug Banks Morning show.
Radio is pretty quiet this week.
