Radio Industry Vet Wayne Brown has Died
Radio Facts is sorry to report that the story we ran this week asking industry people to pray for one of our own has taken a turn for the worse. He lost his battle with liver cancer and passed on Saturday October 6. Friends state he had been struggling with health issues for quite some time.
Brown is best known for his GM position at CBS Radio stations with a long stint at WPEG in Charlotte, NC as the GM and Brown served many years as the VP of Marketing for Radio One‘s Atlanta stations. After leaving Radio One, Brown started his own business and recently resurfaced with his most recent post was working with Steve Hegwood at a hip hop station in Atlanta, Streetz 94.5 FM. Brown, a native of Washington, DC, was a recipient of a number of media awards. He leaves behind a wife Nyesa, two sons and his extended family. It’s a sad irony that Nate Quick, a former coworker and DJ at WPEG Charolotte, who worked for years with Wayne there, passed from the same cancer in 2009. Radio Facts will keep you posted on Mr. Brown’s arrangements.
