February 13, 2015 (New York, NY) – WQHT HOT 97 FM, the #1 station for Hip-Hop and R&B, hosted “The Tip-Off” last night to a sold out crowd at the world-renowned Theater at Madison Square Garden. Puff Daddy and Snoop Dogg led the electric line-up of Hip-Hop superstars and music’s elite as New Yorkers and fans in town for All-Star came together to kick off the biggest weekend in basketball.

Presented by Beats by Dre, “The Tip-Off” was the premier event to be at Thursday night. The vibe of the crowd was electrifying, with everyone on their feet roaring! “The Tip-Off” was the show to end all shows of All-Star weekend.
The night started off with comedian Alex Thomas warming the crowd up, as HOT 97’s DJ Camilo spun the hottest tunes in Hip-Hop. Doug E. Fresh took the stage next to introduce Puff Daddy, and the night exploded from there!

A line of special guest acts followed, as Puff and Snoop led the charge, performing their classic hits including “Victory”, “All About the Benjamins”, “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, “Gin & Juice”, and “Beautiful”. The energy on the stage was undeniable, as Puff and Snoop showed Hip-Hop how to put on a show of epic proportion!

The surprise appearances were some of the biggest highlights of the night: Puff brought out his own son, Christian Combs, who proved dad’s dance moves run in the family; Kanye West touched down for a special performance of “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” as his wife, Kim Kardashian, proudly looked on from the side;
Dr. Dre joined Snoop for “Nothin’ But a G Thang” and “Next Episode”, while the king of Queens, Nas, stopped by to perform “Hate Me Now”; R&B group 112 had “Peaches & Cream” trending; and Puff named Big Sean the next Ciroc Boy, after which he performed his hit song, “IDFWU”.

The night came to an end as Faith Evans joined Puff and Snoop on stage for an inspiring rendition of “I’ll Be Missing You” alongside the Love Fellowship choir led by WLIB’s Bishop Hezekiah Walker. Puff and Snoop closed out the show by bringing out all of their friends for an electrifying performance of “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems”.

“HOT 97 does it again,” states Deon Levingston, General Manager of Emmis NY/HOT 97. “We’re committed to providing high quality, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for our fans, and ‘The Tip-Off’ was on another level! Puff, Snoop, Kanye, Nas, Dre, Faith – only HOT 97 can bring such a historic event with Hip-Hop’s megastars to New York, as well as the world via online streaming, with more than 70 thousand views, 12 times the number of people inside the venue.

And we’re not done yet! HOT 97 will continue to stream the show online, expecting more than 300 thousand views, and we’ll be at all of the NBA events throughout the city this weekend! Plus, sister-station WBLS will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with another sold out show featuring Babyface, 112, and Avery Sunshine. Emmis NY has truly dominated All-Star weekend!”

The show was hosted by Ebro in the Morning’s Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Rosenberg, and HOT 97’s afternoon personality, Nessa; catch the replay of the whole concert at HOT97.com/live, and head to HOT97.com to check out photos and videos from the concert, including exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews!
