Comedian Monique is like 50 Cent, she’s at the crossroad and on the fence and on the cusp. I am going to see Precious this week but everybody who I know who has seen is says it will emotionally drain you and perhaps we need that in the black community to finally come to grips with things like child abuse THAT DOES HAPPEN IN OUR COMMUNITY ALL THE TIME and face the music instead of turning it on all the time to forget shit exists. At any rate, let me get off the box this morning… Monique’s performance is said to be so unusually powerful Hollywood is taking note. I will tell you right now if Monique wins an Oscar she would move her big ass right back to LA and tell BET goodbye (shit, I would) and start shopping that show at NBC or one of the majors (laugh). At any rate, we wish her luck and I will let you know what I think of the movie. In addition, in this week’s people, Monique discusses being sexually abused by her older brother as a child.
